Meet the teetotal teens
Shannon Ginty and Glenda Chen, both 19, are two teenagers who have made the decision not to drink. They are among an increasing number of young people aged between 16 and 24 who have become teetotal.
The pair said they have friends who are “quite heavy drinkers” who, after spending their money on alcohol, ‘haven’t got money for food.’
They said they would “definitely” feel isolated if they didn’t have each other.
The Office of National Statistics has found that more than a fifth of UK adults now say they don’t drink alcohol at all.
