Cycling's Sexism?

Does a marketing campaign for a Belgium cycle race highlight sexism in the sport?

In 2013 when cyclist Peter Sagan stood on the podium of the Tour of Flanders and squeezed the bottom of the podium girl. He issued an apology. Now two years later, that incident is the inspiration behind the advertising for the 2015 'E3 Haralbeke' race. 鈥淲ho squeezes them in Harelbeke?鈥 is the tag line on a poster next to the picture of a podium girl's exposed backside with a cycling glove-clad hand set to squeeze it. The image sparked outrage on social media and the sport鈥檚 governing body, the UCI, have forced promoters to remove the poster. We discuss that image and look at whether cycling has a sexism problem.

Syrian Sanctuary in the Snow
For one small group of Syrian refugees this week鈥檚 Nordic Skiing World Championships in Sweden had special resonance. Since escaping the fighting in the Middle East a small group of female Syrian refugees have been part of a project helping them integrate into Swedish life, and there鈥檚 no better way of doing that than through skiing. Their immediate goal was a place in the relay competition at the 2015 championships.
