Liverpool moved to within a point of Southampton after winning 2-0 at St Mary’s.
Philippe Coutinho scored the only goal of the game early in the first half, firing in from 30 yards with a strike which went in off the underside of the bar.
Raheem Sterling got Liverpool’s second goal, capitalising after Southampton failed to clear the ball.
