Alzheimers carer: 'Part of me wishes my Dad was dead'
Paul rang the Stephen Nolan show to tell the story of caring for his father who lives with Alzheimer's. In an emotional exchange he tells Stephen how part of him actually wishes his Dad was already dead, "because I want to remember him how he was", he says.
He also tells how his Dad will just "stop talking and drift off mid-sentence", and how hard it is "to see the man who raised me, moulded me, be that empty shell...it is heartbreaking".
