
Former senior Muslim police officer on ‘toxic’ Prevent strategy
One of the highest ranking Muslim police officers in Britain has said the Prevent strategy has failed.
Dal Babu has just resigned as a chief superintendent in the Metropolitan Police.
Prevent trains police officers and others to identify potential terrorists and help young people who might be tempted to follow them.
With an annual budget of £40m, the programme is one of four strands of Contest, the acronym given to the government's multi-pronged counter-terrorism strategy.
