Poet on FGM
According to recent figures from the NHS, more than 20 thousand girls are at risk of it in the UK, while 66 thousand more are living with it’s consequences. Female Genital Mutilation or FGM has long been associated with countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Virginia Greiner is a Kenyan German Poet who works against Gender-Based Violence and is the first African to be awarded the Order of Merit- Germany’s highest award. She’s been telling ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Leicester’s Dulcie Dixon about why she thinks FGM happens
