Jah Wobble said the first time he appeared on Top of the Pops, the only thing he wanted to do was "muck about" and that he went straight to make-up to have his teeth blacked out for the occasion.

Speaking to 5 live's Danny Baker, he said the music programme used to do a close up of "glammed up geezers" and he wanted to do something different "for a gag".

He also claims to have "deliberately" done everything that performers were not meant to do when appearing on the television show, including looking up at the monitors.
