A vote has begun to choose a national bird for Britain, the nominees are: the robin, blue tit, wren, blackbird, mute swan, kingfisher, red kite, barn owl, puffin and hen harrier.

The vote has been called for by 'urban birder' David Lindo who feels the robin has had it's time as Britain's bird.
