The eclipse at RSPB Bempton Cliffs
The eclipse at RSPB Bempton Cliffs - the largest mainland seabird colony in Britain. It's home to a thriving population of 11,000 pairs of gannets that are just at the start of their breeding season. When the sun became obscured, temperature and light levels dropped, the cacophony dipped. A corn bunting started singing at the top of the cliff - more normally a dusk and dawn behaviour. A number of gannets returned to the cliffside nesting site, and some took advantage of the impending "night" to get a little amorous. Then the sun returned… and everything was back to normal.
