Top cop says it's harder to monitor terrorists online
Europe’s top cop says the ability of the police to monitor terrorist traffic over the web is being hampered by the tough encryption the tech companies are building into mobile phones and apps. Rob Wainwright, director of Europol, says the move for stronger encryption has accelerated since the revelations by Edward Snowden that intelligence agencies in the UK and US were ‘bulk monitoring’ the emails of innocent people.
