ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Launches Women's Footballer of the Year Award
We announce details of a new ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Women’s Footballer of the Year award on Canada Calling.
Details of a new ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ award from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ World Service have been announced on the Canada Calling women’s football show. The public will be able to vote on a five player shortlist (vote opens late April) and the winner of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Women’s Footballer of the Year will be announced in late May.
Also on Canada Calling, we countdown to the Women’s World Cup. Guests include the Technical director of the South Africa team, Fran Hilton Smith, who's also Africa's sole representative on FIFA's Women's Football Task Force.
With the return of the Women's Super League, we speak to one of England's star footballers who has seen recent success winning the Cyprus Cup against Canada earlier in March, Arsenal defender Alex Scott.
Plus an exclusive interview with the USA’s leading goal-scorer and a two-time Olympic gold medallist, Abby Wambach, who tells us how she would give up every medal, award and accolade she’s ever received in her illustrious career to win the World Cup this summer.
