The Sound of 1960s Cambodia

The sound of the 1960s, in the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh. Our notions of Cambodia are so coloured by the American campaign in south-east Asia and the Khmer Rouge's mass murder that few of us realise what a vibrant music scene there'd been in the city beforehand. But a new documentary aims to set the record straight: it's called Don't Think I've Forgotten - and using rare archive footage and interviews with the few musicians who survived the purges paints a haunting picture of an era of innocence and optimism, tragically cut short. Director John Pirozzi gave an overview of the era.
