
Military Plan to Tackle Traffickers
Europe's plan to stop traffickers; Egypt's animal mummy scandal; Greece in new talks
The European Union has drawn up plans to use military force against people-trafficking networks in Libya - and Federica Mogherini, foreign policy chief, is to address the UN Security Council. Military vessels from EU countries could be allowed to "neutralise" trafficker's boats close to the Libyan coast. Thousands of migrants try to cross the Mediterranean from North Africa via Libya.
The ancient Egyptians mummified their animals on a vast scale - it's estimated almost 70 million were made into sacred objects as offerings to gods or guarantees for the afterlife. Now, though, a scanning project at Manchester Museum and Manchester University has revealed that many mummies contained no animal remains inside them at all. Have they uncovered an ancient scam?
Finance Ministers from the Eurozone are meeting to discuss what to do about Greece, a country fast running out of money. Greece is under huge pressure from its international creditors to agree a programme of economic reforms, including austerity measures, in return for the release of further bailout loans.
