Eddie Mair challenged the Liberal Democrats leader on the comments made by Lord Scriven about an alleged conversation with David Cameron; and asked him which party he would favour in coalition.

"If David Cameron and Ed Miliband continued to put their narrow interests ahead of the party... the outcome would be an unstable government and that would mean a likelihood of an election in the coming months," said Nick Clegg.

Mr Clegg said as 'an old fashioned liberal', being put on the spot about who he would go into coalition with would feel like being forced to choose between "two deeply unappetising options".

During the election campaign, PM has invited the leaders of the Green Party, the Liberal Democrats, the SNP, Plaid Cymru, UKIP, Labour and the Conservatives to be interviewed.
