Newcastle edged two points clear of the relegation zone and ended a run of eight straight defeats as they came from behind to draw 1-1 against West Brom.
Victor Anichebe's glanced header gave the visitors the lead, before Ayoze Perez reacted smartly to guide home a half-volley just before the break.
Chris Brunt hit the post as West Brom threatened in the second half, but neither side could find a winner.
