An Australian Senator says Johnny Depp has a "50/50 chance of legal proceedings" after allegedly failing to declare his dogs to Australian customs officials.

The actor had brought his terriers Pistol and Boo on his private jet from America.

Senator John Williams told 5 live that the pilot could also face punishment.

"They'd got through immigration, they'd got through customs," he told Phil Williams.

"Apparently they came hidden in a couple of bags. The pilot could face up to two years in jail."
