Salmond: The art of politics is not to lie
The words supporting Alistair Carmichael from Malcolm Bruce were a “very original defence of his colleague” said a former First Minister of Scotland.
But when pressed over the advice offered to the Scottish government over the future membership of the EU for a newly-independent nation, Alex Salmond claimed This Week presenter Andrew Neil had “misremembered” their previous interview.
Now a Westminster MP, Mr Salmond went back over what he did, or did not, say ahead of the Scottish referendum.
And he claimed the former Lib Dem Scottish secretary had been “smearing” Nicola Sturgeon, but was later “found out about it”.
