The Heavenly Sounds of the Seaside
The crashing waves, the squawking seagulls, perhaps even an ice cream van playing in the distance. All sounds you might hear on a day out by the sea. Now, a new project is encouraging the public to get out to the coast and capture the sounds of the seaside, to create an audio archive for future generations at the British Library. The recordings will will be used to create a new piece of music, inspired by the coasts, by musician Martyn Ware of Human League and Heaven 17.
