"You don't get time to think about mortality" when you're falling from the sky, says Corporal Mike French.

Cpl French's parachute failed to open during a display by the Red Devils at the Whitehaven Air Show, leaving onlookers stunned as Cpl Wayne Shorthouse rescued his colleague mid-air.

He described the incident as "nerve wracking", but said 'instinct kicked in' which allowed him to navigate Cpl French into a "nice soft landing" in the water.
