Tunisia survivor: I played dead five inches from gunman

Grandmother Angela Evans tells how she survived Friday's terror attack in Tunisia by playing dead, face-down in the sand, as the gunman stood just five inches away from her

Grandmother Angela Evans has given an emotional interview in which she has described how she survived Friday's terror attack in Tunisia by playing dead, face-down in the sand, as the gunman stood just five inches away from her.

A total of 38 people were killed in the shooting on a beach in the resort of Sousse. The official UK death toll stands at 18, but it's expected to rise to around 30.

Recalling the attack, Angela from Kings Lynn in Norfolk, said: "People were screaming and people were trying to run; there was no way you could get away from that. He was spraying people with this gun, he was not going to miss anybody, he was just going to kill everybody there."

She continued: "I thought, 'If we run, we're dead', so play dead, and what we did was we both fell to the sand. The next thing he was beside me, I can only guess five or six inches from me. I opened one eye hoping he wouldn't see me. Then there was a noise...and I felt him move. He started shooting, but not at me."
