
Paul Polman: Africa needs to be connected
There are some brands that are just part of everyday life in Africa. Wherever you may go there is always a billboard for a mobile phone company or a sign for Coca-Cola.
Some brands are ubiquitous - Omo washing powder, Vaseline and Lifebouy soap, for example. But while consumers may be familiar with the brands, they may not be away that many of them - including those three - are made by the same company.
The Anglo-Dutch giant Unilever has been selling its wares in Africa for well over 100 years.
The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Lerato Mbele sat down with its chief executive Paul Polman and asked him how getting Unilever products to its customers presents a particular challenge in Africa.
