Why is 80s music so popular in adverts?
The 80s seem to be having a revival, says Nicky Unsworth, head of advertising agency BJL.
That is certainly the case in advertising. In 2014, Bonnie Tyler's 1983 hit 'Total Eclipse of the Heart' was the track most used in campaigns, with Europe's 'The Final Countdown' coming a close second.
Queen became the band most used for commercial purposes with three separate companies using their music in adverts.
Speaking to 5 live Breakfast, Ms Unsworth said 80s music appeals to an "older audience", who are more likely to be affluent, as well as a younger group who view the 80s as a "cool period."
Looking to the future of advertising, she said agencies will "move on" from 80s music, but predicts "big epic tracks" will continue to be used.
