Martin Lewis predicts 'automated switching' is the future
Money expert Martin Lewis says that 'automated switching' between utility providers is the future for saving consumers money.
The money expert Martin Lewis has told ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 live that "automated switching" between utility providers is the future for saving money for consumers.
He was speaking ahead of a 5 live Daily special about money to be broadcast at 10am on Monday 27 July.
He said that apathy is the biggest problem which stops people switching, but he has been pioneering new ways of making switching easier, including automated alerts if a new deal would save you money.
Martin Lewis revealed that he is exploring ways for consumers in the future to be able to sign up with "trusted providers", who would automatically switch them between companies. It would mean people constantly got the best deal without having to do anything. He said there are regulatory and other hurdles to get through, but he is talking to government ministers, and hopes that, in time, this would be possible.
It would mean that people would constantly, and automatically, be on the best deal, whether that was for energy, broadband, mobile phones or all kinds of regular bills. This clip is from 5 live Daily.
