Calais migrant crisis: What happens to the children?
Kent County Council has told 5 live it's struggling to cope with the number of unaccompanied children arriving from Calais seeking asylum.
By law, local authorities have a duty to provide support for under 18s who arrive in the UK without an adult accompanying them.
5 live's Stephen Chittenden visited the migrant camp in Calais known as "the Jungle" and was given exclusive access to a secure area where children are cared for.
Christian Salomé from French charity L'Auberge de Migrants said migrant parents want their children to attempt the journey to the UK too.
He said "it's very dangerous" for the children to get on to the lorries or trains but their parents feel like they have "no solution".
