The TV and radio presenter, who was a close friend, said: "Cilla was unique."

"She had all those wonderful pop songs, and she was one of the most popular TV presenters. Not many people can make that transition and be so good at it."

Gloria said she was "deeply saddened" by Cilla's death, which had come as a shock, as they'd both attended a friend's barbeque two weeks ago, and the news felt like "having the heart ripped out of you".
