Juliette Binoche: Why I reject some Hollywood roles
Juliette Binoche says she has rejected Hollywood acting roles which would have made her male co-stars look "stronger or more sexy" but would have "reduced the strength of a human being".
Binoche, who is currently starring in the Greek tragedy Antigone at the Edinburgh International Festival, explained why she had chosen to reject several big-budget film offers.
"I could have moved to America, I could done some films that bought me some type of a security in that kind of a world but I've always played independent," said Binoche.
"Sometimes I had doubts because you don't want to feel that you reject anyone. But at the same time when you make choices it has to be a representation of yourself," she added.
