John Barnes: The days of the classic wingers are gone
When discussing how Raheem Sterling could improve his performances playing on the wing for Manchester City. Former England and Liverpool footballer John Barnes claimed that the days of classic wing players are now over.
“Raheem Sterling doesn't go down the line and put crosses in because no one does that anymore” explained the 51-year-old.
“You get the width and the attacking crosses / impetus from full backs these days. All of these wide players aren't wingers.”
