Ennis Hill: 'I hadn't thought about winning a gold medal'
Jessica Ennis-Hill says she surpassed her own expectation by winning world heptathlon gold in Beijing.
The reigning Olympic champion was competing in only her second major competition since London 2012 in China, but took the title just 13 months after giving birth to her son.
"Today is just an incredible feeling knowing where I've come from last year since having my son and the work that me and my team and my coach have put in and everyone has just been amazing," she said.
"I train hard and I put a lot of work in and I'm dedicated but I didn't believe that I would be here with a gold medal.
"I hadn't thought about a gold medal coming into this. Me and Toni (Minichello, coach) just thought about a bronze medal and we honestly hadn't spoken about a gold medal," Ennis-Hill added.
