Brit tells how an SOS sand message saved him
A British tourist who was lost for two days in a remote area of northern Australia has described writing an SOS message in the sand as "a moment of inspiration amongst all the stupidity".
Geoff Keys, 63, lost his way in July after trying to find an isolated waterfall in the Jardine National Park in the state of Queensland.
"I just wrote 'HELP 2807' which was the date and an arrow pointing down stream which was the direction that I was swimming".
Geoff was eventually spotted by an officer in a police helicopter who was co-ordinating a search for him.
"I was ever-so glad to see that helicopter, don't worry about that".
