Epilepsy sufferer: My Labrador 'alerts' me to seizures
An epilepsy sufferer says her Labrador "alerts” her to seizures.
Shannon Locke said she noticed her dog Poppy’s behaviour was “very strange before having a seizure”.
"She'll come up 15 minutes beforehand and alert me, which gives me time to get somewhere safe," said Locke. "She'll extensively lick me and that removes excess saliva so I don't choke. She'll continue to lick until I come around."
"When she's alerting me to seizures, I have no idea. There’s no feeling, there’s no way I would have known. Most of the time I would have just hit the decks, I’ve smashed my head, I’ve fallen down stairs. So she's definitely picking up on something,” she added.
