Auschwitz visitor: Sprinklers are 'a knife in the stomach'
A visitor of Auschwitz Memorial has described the new mist sprinklers as "a knife in the stomach".
Management at the Auschwitz Memorial installed sprinklers outside the former Nazi concentration camp as a relief from the current heatwave in Poland.
Mier Bulka lost "more than 70%" of his family at Auschwitz and said that the sprinklers were "not a nice welcome" for visitors.
He said that management think "it's just a museum and something that happened 70 years ago" but that people should not forget "it's the lowest place in the world".
The museum defended its decision and said the mist was offered as a safety measure at a time when temperatures had touched 100F.
