Professor Dame Athene Donald: "It's a question of offering options"
The incoming President of the British Science Association (BSA), Professor Dame Athene Donald is calling for major changes to the UK education system.
Professor Donald believes more needs to be done to counter stereotyping which puts women off going in to science.
If you were at a single sex school you were two and a half times more likely as a girl to do Physics A-Level,” she said.
Professor Donald wants schools to steer away from traditional gender based work experience.
"It’s a question of offering them options...so they know what’s out there," she said.
