Charee Stanley became a Muslim shortly after joining the Express Jet airline in the US. She then discovered her religion not only forbade her from drinking alcohol, but also from serving it. Other flight attendants carried out this service on her behalf initially, but eventually a complaint from another flight attendant led to the company placing her on unpaid leave.

Lena Masri is Ms Stanley's lawyer and also a Staff Attorney at the Council on American Islamic Relations, she spoke to Newsday.
