Summer born babies are 20% less likely to go to university
If a child is born in the summer, their parents could delay their start of school by up to a year. That would be the effect of a proposal made by Schools Minister Nick Gibb in an open letter to parents, local authorities and headteachers. He set out his desire to change the School Admissions Code.

It's an attempt to address some parents' concerns that their children are not ready for school when they have just turned four.
