Alzheimer's Research: No evidence disease is infectious
There is no evidence Alzheimer's disease can be transmitted from person to person, says Director of Research at Alzheimer's Research UK.
The science journal Nature has published a report which suggests Alzheimer's could be contracted during certain medical procedures in the same way as the brain disease CJD.
Speaking to 5 live Breakfast, Dr Eric Karran said the study looked at people who had received injections of a hormone gathered from the brains of cadavers.
He said that type of medical procedure has never been common and would "never" occur in modern medicine.
