'Phillips deserves Wales start' - Sir Gareth Edwards
Wales great Sir Gareth Edwards has backed late Welsh call-up Mike Phillips to start for his country at the Rugby World Cup.
The scrum-half was only called into the squad on Tuesday after Rhys Webb was ruled out with a foot injury.
Edwards thinks that Phillips can go straight into the starting XV, saying: "That first 40 minutes is so important in the game, Mike may very well be the man for that".
"His great experience and competitiveness will bring a load of confidence to the team".
Wales begin their World Cup campaign on 20th September against Uruguay in Cardiff.
