Williams sisters had to walk home if they ever talked tennis away from the court - Bollettieri
American tennis legend Nick Bollettieri talks to 5 live about the extraordinary and unorthodox rise of Venus and Serena Williams.
“They’ve come from nothing; everybody thought their daddy was crazy” said the 84-year-old before proceeding to tell a story of when father of the Williams sisters, Richard Williams, made daughter Venus walk home alone from a petrol station for talking about tennis.
“When they left the tennis courts, the girls were forbidden to talk about tennis...'Crazy Richard' did things nobody else ever did; it takes a crazy person to do the things that Richard has done.”
