New species could be 'bridge' between apes and humans
One of the scientists who discovered the remains of a previously unknown species says it "complicates" the human family tree.
Hundreds of fossilised bone fragments were found in what's believed to be a burial chamber near Johannesburg.
"I think this is another cog in what is becoming a much more complicated wheel than we realised," said biological anthropologist Dr Maria Elliot.
"I think this is another relative that we may figure how we're related to - or not."
