Smartphones - a migrant's most essential item
Those migrants and refugees trying to cross the border from Serbia to Hungary next Tuesday will likely find their path blocked and those who do make it across will be treated as illegal migrants. So how long will it be before those migrants much further away ,who may have just made landfall in Greece find out? Surprisingly quickly it seems. Smart phones and social media have transformed how migrants make their way through Europe, in many cases meaning they can bypass people traffickers entirely. Mohammed Al Saud is a Syrian activist and asylum seeker in Stockholm. Would it be an overstatement to say that a smart phone is the most important object migrants own?
