Malaria doctor: Rain is our enemy
Wet weather leads to a rise in the mosquito population, says Dr Ed Sixsmith.
He said rain is the "enemy" of doctors in countries like Central African Republic, where he is currently working.
As part of an audio diary recorded for 5 live Breakfast, he said an average of ten children attend hospital each night - the majority of whom have malaria.
The World Malaria Report has found an estimated 437,000 African children died before their fifth birthday due to malaria last year.
