All Blacks captain McCaw is 'phenomenal' says Mehrtens
New Zealand captain Richie McCaw is 'phenomenal' says former All Blacks fly-half Andrew Mehrtens.
The 34-year-old flanker is the most capped player in the history of Test rugby and will lead the reigning champions as they look to defend the World Cup.
"He's phenomenal," said Mehrtens, who played with McCaw early in his career.
"He just focuses on task by task in a game and he is relentless," he added.
New Zealand face Argentina in their opening match at this year's tournament.
