A charity is using graphic pictures of knife attacks and injuries to try and teach students about the effects of knife crime.

The students at St. Helena School in Colchester said that although the pictures they were shown were "vile", it made them realise "what really deep cuts look like".

The charity Only Cowards Carry was founded by Caroline Shearer whose 17-year-old son was stabbed to death at a party three years ago.

Knife crime is on the increase across England and Wales for the first time in four years according to recent figures from Office for National Statistics.
