More women in work 'makes economic sense' for India
Only about a third of India's working age women are in paid jobs and the World Bank has just put out a report on the employment difficulties women face.
They included restrictions on women entering some industries and a lack of laws to protect them from sexual harassment.
But the report did also highlight some positives - including new laws forcing stock market-listed companies to have at least one woman on the company board.
The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Shilpa Kannan asked the World Bank's managing director Sri Mulyani Indrawat why getting more women in work was so important.
