Mum warns of Toxic Shock Syndrome symptoms following daughter's death
The mum of a teenager who died from sepsis while on her period is begging people to learn the danger signs of Toxic Shock Syndrome (TSS).
Jemma-Louise Roberts died aged 13, and is thought to have developed TSS, a rare but life-threatening bacterial infection, that has been linked to using a tampon for a long time.
Doctors initially thought Jemma was suffering from the winter norovirus, and Ms. Roberts said TSS "can be mistaken for anything", and that she "did not know" what the symptoms were.
Mrs Roberts is warning others of the danger signs as part of World Sepsis Week.
She said Jemma was always happy and "had a smile that lit the room up".
