Rugby World Cup: 5 live Breakfast's guide to South Africa
South Africa is aiming to do what no other country has done before as it looks to add a third Rugby World Cup title to its mantelpiece following wins in 1995 and 2007.
Vata Ngobeni from Pretoria News says "there is much optimism" despite an "injury list to a lot of their senior players resembling a war time casualty ward".
The Springboks have had a "tumultuous" lead up to the tournament with poor form and political controversy threatening to derail their campaign - an opening loss to Japan didn't help their confidence.
