43ft whale removed from Northern Ireland beach
A 43ft whale has been removed after washing up on a beach in Portstewart, County Londonderry.
The operation, which began on Monday afternoon, involved the Department of the Environment, the coastguard and the National Trust.
It's thought the whale may have died of old age.
Joe Breen of the DoE told 5 Live that she was the third Sei whale to have washed ashore in Northern Ireland in the past eight years.
He also said the Sei species is the fourth largest whale in the world.
Joe Passmore was among those who gathered on the beach and told Phil Williams about what he saw.
