Andrew Mehrtens: Sam Burgess is the victim
England centre Sam Burgess been defended by New Zealand legend Andrew Merhtens.
The rugby league convert has been criticised for his part in the hosts鈥� elimination from the Rugby World Cup and was left out of the squad for Saturday鈥檚 final Pool A match against Uruguay.
鈥淚t鈥檚 not Sam Burgess鈥� fault,鈥� said Mehrtens.
鈥淗e鈥檚 a tremendous athlete in whatever sport he puts his mind to.
鈥淗e hasn鈥檛 had the time and the opportunity to get the feel for rugby union.鈥�
