Afghan refugee: Britain should be proud to have me
Gulwali Passarlay's mother paid people smugglers around $8,000 to get him to the UK. Gulwali, who's now studying at the University of Manchester, says he wants to go back to Afghanistan and work in politics or for the UN.
He told Afternoon Edition Britain should be "proud to have me here". He said 'I wish I stayed in Afghanistan' but added that 'Britain was a big ally invading my country, bombing my country and killed innocent people'.
Gulwali and his brother had to leave Afghanistan after being threatened by the Taliban who wanted them to become suicide bombers.
