Steve Evans: I told the players my contract runs out on Friday!
Leeds United are renowned for disposing of their managers quickly since Massimo Cellino took over, but their new manager Steve Evans sees the lighter side.
Speaking after his side's 1-1 draw with Fulham in the Championship on Wednesday, Evans admitted he joked about the managerial situation to motivate his players.
"I told the players tongue-in-cheek that I had a contract until Friday", Evans told Mark Chapman and Pat Nevin on ѿý Radio 5 live.
"I told them they would leave before Friday if they didn't give me passion and effort."
He added: "When you come to a proud football club with the history and tradition this football club has, the minimum you expect is for the players to give everything they've got."
Evans is the sixth manager to take charge at Elland Road since Cellino completed his takeover of the club two years ago.
