Geraint Thomas on talking to Warren Barguil after dramatic crash
Double Olympic champion Geraint Thomas says he spoke to Warren Barguil the morning after the French rider knocked into him on a steep descent in the Tour de France. The crash saw Thomas go straight into a telegraph pole and fall off his bike into a ditch to the shock of spectators on the roadside. The Welshman told 5 live he spoke to Barguil the next day and from then on made sure he 'was always behind him on the descent.' He said cyclists have to accept that crashes will always happen: 'It's kind of like a cricketer losing his wicket. It's guaranteed to happen at some point. That's how I tackle it. Maybe it's the wrong way because I do crash quite a bit.' This clip is originally from 5 live Afternoon Edition on Wednesday 28 October 2015.
